In a recent military offensive under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched coordinated airstrikes that eliminated several terrorist elements in Niger State.
The operation supported ongoing ground missions aimed at apprehending those behind a series of violent attacks in the region. These airstrikes, conducted between June 24 and 26, 2025, targeted terrorist strongholds identified through actionable intelligence.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the operation was the result of effective collaboration between military and security agencies.
Intelligence revealed that armed groups were involved in a range of criminal activities, including attacks on civilians and cattle rustling in the Kakihun and Kumbashi areas. This intelligence guided the deployment of air assets to neutralize threats swiftly.
“The Air Component executed multiple waves of precision strikes that neutralised scores of terrorists, destroyed their logistics, and disrupted regrouping efforts,” Ejodame stated. He emphasized the professionalism of the Air Force, noting that the success of the mission reflected the rapid response capability and strong coordination among ground troops and other agencies.
Air Commodore Ejodame reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to national security, adding, “The Nigerian Air Force remains resolutely committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians and ensuring lasting peace across the country.” The operation marks another step in the ongoing effort to degrade terrorist networks and restore stability to conflict-affected regions.
