The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has directed all branches of the Armed Forces to deepen inter-service collaboration to counter evolving national security threats.

General Oluyede issued the directive during the Naval Staff Annual Retreat in Abuja.

The military chief stated that intelligence-led joint operations between the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force have successfully degraded terrorist capabilities.

He added that these coordinated missions have secured national infrastructure and curtailed oil theft and maritime crime in the coastal corridors.

General Oluyede pledged the military’s unwavering loyalty to constitutional authority and democratic values. He commended the resilience of frontline personnel and charged officers to maintain high operational readiness as the armed forces transitioned to a technology-driven defense posture.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, convened the retreat to evaluate the performance of various naval commands over the past year.

Addressing principal staff officers, flag officers commanding, and autonomous unit commanders, the naval chief stated that the assessment aligns institutional goals with current national security demands. Vice Admiral Abbas added that the retreat serves as a strategic blueprint to enhance fleet capabilities and inter-agency cooperation.
