The Kano State Chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has formed a three-member interim leadership team to oversee its affairs.

The intervention came after the official resignation of its substantive chairman, Dr Goni Faruk Umar.

According to the State Public Relations Officer of the forum, Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim, the interim team comprises the District Head of Tofa, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, Ambassador Bala Mohammed Sani, and Hajiya Rabia Husaini Adamu.

Retired General Haliru Akilu announced the appointments during a joint meeting of the ACF Board of Trustees representing Kano State and the executive committee of the chapter, held at the Late Amina Habib ACF Secretariat in Kano.

He stated that the trio will steer the affairs of the chapter for the remainder of the current executive committee’s tenure, pending the election of a new chairman.

Akilu emphasised that the decision was necessary to promote reconciliation and strengthen cooperation among members following recent internal disagreements that affected the operations of the chapter.

“The spirit that should guide every one of us is the same: consultation before decision, integrity before convenience and service before self,” Akilu.

He urged members to set aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of the forum, stating that the meeting was designed to resolve outstanding issues rather than revisit past controversies.

The retired general confirmed the receipt of Dr Umar’s resignation letter, who mentioned in the letter that the demands of his busy schedule was the reason for him stepping down.

He commended the former chairman for his contributions and praised the Assistant Controller-General of Narcotics, Alhaji Abubakar Idris Ahmed, who held the fort as acting chairman for four months during Umar’s absence.

The newly appointed interim leaders thanked members for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to ensure the effective administration of the chapter.
