President Bola Tinubu has officially flagged off his 2027 re-election bid, declaring that the current economic hardship and poverty in the country were created by his political opponents.
The President stated this on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna State.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of party faithful and supporters at the Ranchers Bees Stadium in the Kaduna metropolis, Tinubu announced the launch of the ruling party’s campaign for a second term in office.
He used supporters to defend his economic policies and mobilise support ahead of the general elections.
While responding to criticisms regarding the rising cost of living, the President attributed the crisis to the actions of the opposition but promised a turnaround.
“I have an argument. I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said.
Tinubu defended his administration’s track record, particularly concerning the payment of workers’ salaries. He also commended the state governors for their performance to develop their respective states.
“We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working. I am proud of them. They are developing,” he stated.
The President expressed gratitude to the people of Kaduna State for their support during the previous election, stating that their votes secured his current mandate. He urged the electorate to grant him another opportunity in 2027 to sustain his promise of prosperity, continuity, and national development.
