A 47 year-old Kayode Adeniyi, the driver of the Lexus SUV that crashed on Monday, December 29, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, who is also a long-standing member of the logistics team of Anthony Joshua, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
The arrest occurred just hours after he was discharged from treatment for minor injuries and after the official discharge of Anthony Joshua from a Lagos hospital.
The accident claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s most trusted inner-circle members, Kevin “Latif” Ayodele and his strength coach Sina Ghami.
Kayode Adeniyi was taken to the state police headquarters in Abeokuta for questioning and is being held pending a formal charging decision.
Initial findings by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) revealed that reckless driving, specifically, excessive speed and a wrongful overtaking maneuver resulted in the crash. as
The police also revealed that a tire burst on the passenger side, which contributed to the driver losing control before colliding with a stationary truck.
The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing – Oluseyi Babaseyi, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer
Meanwhile, police are still searching for the driver of the stationary Sinotruck, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
