Driver of Anthony Joshua’s SUV arrested after hospital discharge

A ‎47 year-old Kayode Adeniyi, the driver of the Lexus SUV that crashed on Monday, December 29, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, who is also a long-standing member of the logistics team of Anthony Joshua, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

‎The arrest occurred just hours after he was discharged from treatment for minor injuries and after the official discharge of Anthony Joshua from a Lagos hospital.

‎The accident claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s most trusted inner-circle members, Kevin “Latif” Ayodele and his strength coach Sina Ghami.

‎Kayode Adeniyi was taken to the state police headquarters in Abeokuta for questioning and is being held pending a formal charging decision.

Initial findings by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) revealed that reckless driving, specifically, excessive speed and a wrongful overtaking maneuver resulted in the crash.  as

‎The police also revealed that a tire burst on the passenger side, which contributed to the driver losing control before colliding with a stationary truck.

The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing – Oluseyi Babaseyi, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer

‎Meanwhile, police are still searching for the driver of the stationary Sinotruck, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
