Police launch manhunt after former APC women leader is found dead in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a full homicide investigation after Jemimah Dutse, a former local women leader for the All Progressives Congress (APC), was murdered in her home.

Dutse, 49, was discovered in a pool of blood with her throat slit at her residence in Muazu New Layout, Yelwa area of Bauchi.

According to the police spokesperson for the command, Nafiu Habib, police officers immediately visited the scene after receiving the report in the afternoon of October 3, 2026, documented the area and moved her body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical examination and an autopsy.

The Bauchi State Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered that the case be handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

“The investigation is with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding her murder and bringing perpetrators to justice”, Habib.

He assured the public and the grieving family that the police will leave no stone unturned in finding the killers.
