The Sokoto State Police Command successfully stopped a late-night bandit attack on Tsabre community, recovering heavy weapons as the gunmen fled into the forest.
The attack started around 1:00 am on Friday in Isa Local Government Area, where a group of armed bandit invaded the village and began shooting randomly, throwing the whole community into panic.
The local Divisional Police Officer, after receiving calls from the community about the attack, quickly mobilized tactical squads, including the Anti-Kidnapping and Violent Crime Response units, and confronted the attackers in a gun battle.
The police overpowered the bandits, forcing them to abandon their mission and run into the nearby bushes.
When officers searched the surrounding area after the gunfight, they discovered two abandoned rocket launchers and two empty AK-47 magazines. The fleeing attackers also left behind a torchlight, a Techno phone without a battery, an army jungle hat, a rain jacket, and five pairs of sandals.
Police Public Relations Officer Ahmad Rufa’i confirmed the incident and praised the officers for their quick action.
“Due to the superior firepower and tactical positioning of the police operatives, the bandits were overpowered and forced to escape into the nearby forest with their casualties,” Rufa’i stated.
Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Shaffa, commended the squad’s bravery and assured residents that the police remain committed to protecting the state.
