Army arrests 19 oil thieves, destroys 22 bunkering sites

Troops of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, have arrested 19 suspects and deactivated 22 illegal refining sites across the Niger Delta. The operations, aimed at protecting critical national infrastructure, resulted in the recovery of stolen crude and refined products worth over ₦150 million.

The acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma,  recovered over 180,000 litres of stolen products, worth ₦150 Million in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.

The GOC of 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, stated that the operations were designed to cut short the financial lifelines of criminal networks.

The GOC added that the raids were conducted across multi-state, in order to ensure that fleeing criminals found no safe haven in Niger Delta states.

‎The GOC urged residents to provide information to help uproot the remaining economic saboteurs.
