The Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), has graduated and deployed 7,000 newly recruited Forest Guards, to flush out bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers at ungoverned spaces.

‎The graduation ceremonies took place on Saturday, December 27, after a three-month training program launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier this year.

‎These Forest Guards are not just uniformed personnel. They are first responders and a critical layer of Nigeria’s security architecture… They will hold ground and support security agencies in reclaiming territories – Nuhu Ribadu

‎The first batch of guards has been stationed in seven states where forest-based criminality has been most prevalent. These states include Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Kwara State.

‎The Forest Guards are charged with the responsibility to carryout, long-range patrol simulations, and rescue operations, and also to provide real-time data to the military.
