Senate President of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio has pledged support to the family of his late police rider, DSP Hussani Ibrahim, who died in a motor accident at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday, December 21.

During a plenary session on Tuesday, December 23, Akpabio granted the two sons of the deceased officer automatic employment as a tribute to their father’s legacy of service.

‎Your late father understood the value of work and service… It is a death that is not in vain. It is a death that testifies to his legacy of service. I commiserate with the family, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Nigeria Police Force over the loss of this courageous, fearless, and daring officer – Senate President Godswill Akpabio, addressing the family

The late DSP Hussani Ibrahim was a member of the security officers assigned to the Senate President, serving as his official escort rider. He died during a high-speed transit on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

‎The Senate also paused to honor Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, a veteran driver who served Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho (Kogi East) for 25 years before his recent passing.
