Tinubu embarks on multi-state tour after presenting 2026 budget

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja on Saturday, for a multi-state visit, social celebration, and regional diplomacy. The tour, announced by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, serves as a precursor to the  end-of-year vacation in Lagos.

The visit was announced a few hours after the presentation of the ₦58.18 trillion 2026 “Budget of Consolidation” to the National Assembly.

‎The President’s visit is targeted at addressing different regional needs.
‎The president will be visiting Borno state, to support the developmental momentum of Governor Babagana Zulum. President Tinubu will inaugurate several multi-billion naira projects, including federal road networks and state-led educational facilities in Maiduguri.

‎The President will be the Special Guest of Honor at the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, to Hadiza Kam Salem, daughter of a prominent Northern family

‎The President also plans to honor the followers of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the influential leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood who passed away on November 27. The Sheikh was a monumental figure in Nigerian Islamic scholarship, and his death left a void in the Muslim  community.

‎For the first time, the Eyo Festival will be held in December, specifically December 27, to honor the President’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji who was the former Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and late Lagos icons Lateef Jakande and Michael Otedola.

‎After the Eyo Festival, the President will hold private New Year meetings with Southwest political leaders and traditional rulers in Lagos. He is scheduled to return to Abuja in early January 2026 for the signing of the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
