The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced in a statement on Sunday that the 38 worshippers abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku have been successfully rescued.

HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State. The governor says this is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees – the statement reads

The abduction occurred on Tuesday in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, making it one of the largest mass abductions in Kwara State’s recent history.

The Federal Government responded to the crisis by deploying security agencies to the area. The rescue was achieved through the combined operation involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police (including newly deployed tactical teams), and local vigilantes.

Michael Agbabiaka, who is the Secretary of CAC Oke Isegun, confirmed that the church was informed about their release, but are yet to receive them;

Yes, they called us that the abductees have been freed… We are waiting for them to be brought back to the community. Our people are eager to see them alive and safe

‎It was as a result of this abduction and that of Kebbi State, that President Bola Tinubu reportedly postponed his scheduled trip to the G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa to personally oversee the security situation.
