12 arrested over street crimes in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a total of twelve suspects in a series of robbery and drug-related offenses across the state.

The operations were carried out between October 21 and 23, 2025, in Minna, Kontagora, and Bida, the major urban centers in the State. The operations focused on known criminal hideouts to disrupt the activities of local gangs and drug suppliers.

The arrests depict an active response by the Niger State Police Command to rid communities of criminal elements and restore public safety, addressing persistent concerns among the populace regarding thuggery and street crime.

Suspects were found in possession of a large quantity of cannabis, shisha pots/pipes, knives, and an unregistered motorcycle stolen during a robbery.
The two robbery suspects, were arrested while fleeing towards Kogi State, confessed to robbing a student in Bida of cash, four mobile phones, and a motorcycle.

The actions by the police are seen as a necessary proactive measure to dismantle criminal networks. The suspects face charges ranging from possession of illicit substances to armed robbery.

The suspects involved in the drug-related offenses have already been charged to court, while the robbery case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for comprehensive follow-up.
