Bauchi State Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy, Auwal Dahiru, and five other suspects for allegedly removing both eyes of his seven-year-old sister, Rukayya Muhammad. Authorities state the crime was committed in a suspected attempt to use the body parts for money ritual. Medical reports confirm that the child has been permanently blinded.
Perpetrators of these crimes operate under the false deeply-rooted superstition that using human body parts can bring instant unending wealth.
Dawn Herald gathered that the incident occurred in Bayan Dutse Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area, and was reported on October 17, 2025.
The Bauchi State Police acted quickly to arrest the primary suspect, the victim’s own brother and others implicated. The victim, Rukayya Muhammad, was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
The Police confirmed that the six suspects remain in custody, and the investigation to uncover the full motive behind their actions is ongoing to ensure all individuals involved are brought to book.
