A primary school teacher, Ishaya Ismaila, has been abducted by kidnappers from his farm on Thursday evening at Tungan Maje while harvesting maize. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N1 million, which has been difficult for his family and colleagues to raise.

The victim, who teaches at a local school, was reportedly overpowered by assailants reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles.

After the abduction, police and local vigilantes were alerted. They found the victim’s motorcycle and a bag of maize at the scene, but no trace of the teacher or his kidnappers.

‎The head teacher of the school, Malam Zakari Dantani, confirmed that a demand for the N1 million ransom has been communicated to the family.

‎Mrs. Halima Ishaya, the wife of the abducted teacher stated that the family is struggling to see how they can raise the N1 million ransom. So far, only N185,000 has been raised. Mrs. Halima Ishaya, stressed that the entire family has been thrown into confusion and depression due to the incident.

While the police assure the public that efforts are underway to rescue the victim, the priority for the victim’s family is currently raising the N1 million naira ransom, as they have secured less than 20% of the demanded amount.
