Borno’s New CP Commits to Ethical Policing, Slams Corruptio

On June 16, 2025, the newly appointed Borno State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, warned officers against corruption and human rights abuses, emphasizing discipline in his inaugural speech in Maiduguri.

Addressing the Borno State Command, Abdulmajid stressed that indiscipline and actions violating the Nigeria Police’s core values would not be tolerated. “Corruption, human rights abuses, and unethical conduct will not be tolerated,” he declared, urging officers to uphold professionalism and commitment to ensure effective policing in the state.

Abdulmajid pledged to enhance security through intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, collaborating with security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and the media. Acknowledging Borno’s complex security challenges, he vowed to sustain gains against crime and insurgency, assuring residents of dedicated service to foster peace and safety.

Commending his predecessor, Yusufu Lawal, for laying a strong foundation, Abdulmajid called for public cooperation, emphasizing open communication. “My doors remain open to suggestions and constructive engagement,” he said, appealing for information sharing to improve policing services in Borno.
