Gunmen have abducted a primary school teacher from her residence in Nasarawa State, demanding a N50 million ransom.

The victim, identified as Mrs Amina Hussaini, is a teacher at a Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in Kuru community, Toto Local Government Area.
She was kidnapped on Tuesday while her husband was away in Lafia on an official assignment.

A family member, Suwaiba Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that the kidnappers established contact shortly after the abduction to present their monetary demands.

According to Abdullahi, efforts by a family mediator to plead with the kidnappers for a reduction in the ransom failed, as the kidnappers abruptly ended the telephone call.

With the victim still languishing in captivity, Dawn Herald gathered that the relatives have resorted to begging the public for financial assistance to raise the demanded funds.

Abdullahi appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, security agencies, and the Nasarawa State Government to intervene and secure her sister’s safe and unconditional release.

The Spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, acknowledged seeing reports of the abduction on social media. The police spokesperson revealed that the command is currently making necessary enquiries to verify the incident before providing operational updates.
