The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has warned Christians against purchasing Christmas clothing before paying their tithes.
Speaking during a recent sermon, the cleric described the practice as highly dangerous, warning that defaulters could face serious consequences during the festive season.
He also linked sudden misfortunes and unexplained highway accidents to the failure of believers to pay their correct tithes.
Ibiyeomie, when speaking about the dangers of not paying tithes, mentioned that his drivers experienced sudden tyre blowouts on the highway, which according to him was as a result of their failure to pay tithes. He recounted a specific incident in Ibadan and another during a trip from Ekpoma involving his Rolls-Royce, emphasizing that it happened because both drivers were not tithers.
The cleric also warned parents about the potential risks to their families if they fail to pay their tithe. He added that many misfortunes people faced are not necessarily demonic attacks, but are self-inflicted by failure to observe tithing principles.
“Year is ending, don’t buy Christmas clothes when you have not paid tithe. It’s dangerous. It’s very dangerous…All of them were born again for years. All this attack is not the devil. Not everything, you go to the devil,” the cleric warned. “I’m telling you this December, don’t tamper with your tithe. Otherwise, they may rush your children. Pay correct tithe, so that you don’t be blaming the devil for what the devil is not responsible for”, Ibiyeomie stated.
The cleric’s statement have ignited fresh debates across social media platforms about the actual essence of tithing as the yuletide season approaches.
