Joint Task Force personnel killed in Benue state ambush

Two security operatives, an Air Force personnel and a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were killed on Saturday, January 10, in an ambush in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

‎The operatives were reportedly returning to their base at Anwase after refilling cooking gas at Aga Market when they encountered a roadblock mounted by the bandits. The gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, killing two personnel instantly, while a third operative managed to escape and alert the police in Jato-Aka.

‎Dawn Herald gathered that the attackers also destroyed property and burned houses in Turan district. The Benue State Police Command and the NSCDC have both confirmed the fatalities. The deceased includes a soldier (Air Force personnel) and NSCDC officer Tijani Idris (Service No: 76691), who was seconded to Operation Whirl Stroke from the Kaduna State Command.
