The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has nullified the suspension of its Kano State chairman, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa.
The suspension was reportedly initiated by a ward in Dawakin Tofa, the local government of former APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, influenced by external political rivalries.
The central leadership of the party in Abuja labeled the attempt by a local ward executive to remove the chairman as illegal and undemocratic, due to a breach of the constitutional hierarchy of the party.
The action amounted to gross anti-party conduct, as it contravened established provisions of the NNPP constitution on discipline and party hierarchy – Ladipo Johnson, NNPP National Publicity Secretary
The NWC ruled that ward-level executives have no legal authority to suspend a state chairman under the NNPP constitution, urging members to follow internal democratic processes.
The party’s national secretariat praised Dungurawa for his conscientious stewardship and contribution to the growth of the party in Kano.
