The Kirikasamma Local Government Area (LGA) of Jigawa State has officially launched a monthly allowance scheme for its former political office holders. This aims to provide financial support to past leaders and also formalize a framework for them to provide advisory services to the current administration.
Council Chairman Maji Wakili Marma unveiled the program at the council headquarters, stating that the payments are designed to recognize past service and encourage community engagement.
The Chairman stated that the allowance is a bridge to tap into the wealth of experience of former leaders, and to provide them the platform to provide feedback and guidance to current serving officials.
The council has taken this step to foster better relations with our former leaders and to tap into their wealth of experience. We urge beneficiaries to continue offering guidance and support to the current administration – Maji Wakili Marma, Chairman, Kirikasamma LGA
The scheme provides monthly stipends ranging from ₦25,000 to ₦50,000, based on the previous rank of the official. Payments are scheduled to begin this month, with approximately 100 former political appointees listed as beneficiaries.
