An elderly woman has been shot dead and at least three residents abducted in a bandit attack on Yankamaye village in the Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State on Saturday night. The incident, occurred as villagers was preparing to retire for the night.
Police have deployed operatives to track the attackers who stormed the village on foot after parking their motorcycles nearby.
The victim, an elderly woman, was shot dead, and at least three other residents were kidnapped by the gunmen. Governor Abba Yusuf acknowledged that the recent incursion of bandits, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers into northern local government areas is a top priority.
He stressed that the affected local government areas require urgent attention, including Tsanyawa, Kunchi, Gwarzo, Kabo, Sumaila, Shanono, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Rogo.
The Governor assured residents that the state is working hand in hand with all security agencies to neutralize emerging threats, block infiltration routes, and restore stability in the affected communities.
