Two sisters created a commotion at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday after missing their NG Eagle flight, leading to a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight until one of them fainted.
The incident reportedly started when the women, both adults, missed their scheduled flight due to lateness. Frustration turned into an argument as one sister seemingly blamed the other for the missed departure.
The disagreement quickly escalated into a scuffle, resulting in scattered luggage and personal belongings across the airport terminal. Airport security intervened, separating the women and escorting them to the interrogation office.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), shared details of the event on his official X account. He described the brawl as unusual but stressed the emotional tension that can arise in stressful travel situations.
Inside the interrogation room, the sisters’ altercation resumed until one lost consciousness. Although an ambulance was called, her sibling declined hospital treatment, saying the issue was spiritual rather than medical. The fainted sister is currently receiving care at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic.
Airport officials continue to urge passengers to arrive early and handle conflicts calmly to prevent similar incidents.
