Senator Aminu Tambuwal led Sokoto and Kebbi PDP chapters to plan a coalition against the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections, with Sokoto eyeing the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), sources revealed on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

In Sokoto, PDP stakeholders, including Tambuwal, National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, and state chairman Aliyu Goronyo, met on Saturday to discuss merging with the ADA, one of 110 parties seeking INEC registration. A source confirmed the meeting’s focus on the coalition, with an official announcement expected by Monday.

Kebbi PDP leaders, meeting in Birnin Kebbi, vowed to join any credible alliance to oust the APC. Party chieftain Dr. Ibrahim Mera emphasized collaboration to end Nigeria’s economic and security crises, while planning a state congress to strengthen grassroots support.

State PDP Chairman Usman Suru urged resilience amid economic hardships, promising a better alternative. The 2023 Kebbi governorship candidate, Gen. Aminu Bande, accused the APC of mismanagement and intimidating opposition members through arrests, fueling the coalition’s resolve.

The moves reflect growing opposition to the APC’s governance, with Tambuwal’s leadership aiming to unify PDP factions and allies to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s administration in 2027, leveraging regional discontent to build a formidable electoral bloc.
