Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf led a delegation to Madina, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, for the funeral of business tycoon Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who died Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Dantata, a 94-year-old philanthropist and industrialist, passed away after a brief illness. The delegation, including Emir of Kano Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi, and former Jigawa Governor Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, departed from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to honor his legacy.

Governor Yusuf called Dantata a “father to many,” whose integrity and enterprise shaped Nigeria. His business ventures included construction and banking, while his philanthropy supported education and healthcare. The funeral at Masjid an-Nabawi drew global dignitaries, including Islamic scholars and business associates.

A funeral prayer in absentia was held in Kano at Umar Bin Khattab Mosque, led by Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, who praised Dantata’s peace-building efforts. Saudi authorities approved his burial in Madina, fulfilling his wish to be laid beside his late wife, Rabi.

The delegation’s presence reflects Kano’s respect for Dantata’s contributions. Governor Yusuf emphasized his role in Nigeria’s socio-economic growth, noting the funeral’s significance in celebrating a life of faith, generosity, and impact.
