A pregnant woman has successfully delivered a baby inside a moving commercial ‘danfo’ bus in Lagos State.
The delivery, captured in a viral social media video, drew jubilation from passengers and has ignited debates amongst users.
After the safe delivery, onlookers who observed the incident suggested naming the newborn ‘Abiona’, a traditional Yoruba name given to children born during a journey or on the road.

The exact route of the transit remains unverified, but footage indicates the mother and child were safe immediately after the birth.
This development follows a similar medical emergency recorded recently at Onipanu Bus Stop along Ikorodu Road. In that separate account, a pregnant woman went into sudden labour while waiting to board a vehicle, leading to the deployment of state medical teams.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) stated that its paramedics quickly took control of the situation before moving the patients to a medical facility.
“In a swift response, LASEMA arrived at the scene to assist a pregnant woman who went into sudden labour while waiting for transport. The woman delivered a healthy baby boy. Both mother and child were stabilised by LASEMA paramedics before being transported to a nearby healthcare facility for post-natal care”.
