The All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised the Senator David Mark-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) to resolve its internal leadership crisis instead of blaming the ruling party for its recent legal misfortunes.
This follows a judgment by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which sacked the Mark-led executive and nullified the party’s official activities, including primary election processes. The suit was instituted by aggrieved national officers of the ADC.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed allegations of collusion, stating that the dispute remains an internal party affair. He accused Mark and his loyalists of hijacking the party structure in violation of internal democracy to advance the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“The case resulted from a legal challenge brought by ADC national officers victimised by the bare-faced heist of the party’s leadership by David Mark and his co-pirates to satisfy Atiku Abubakar’s quixotic presidential ambition”.
The ruling party accused the opposition of adopting double standards and attacking the judiciary over an internal legal dispute.
The APC spokesman condemned the ADC for questioning the integrity of the judiciary whenever court decisions do not favour its leadership, describing the opposition’s stance as a reckless political misadventure.
He advised the aggrieved faction to appeal the judgment rather than attacking or issuing threats capable of inciting anarchy.
“In their warped reckoning, only courts and judges that side with them are worthy, while those that rule differently are a menace to society. That is senselessness in the extreme,” Morka added.
The ruling party described the ADC as an organisation unfit to govern Nigeria due to its inability to manage its internal affairs.
However, the APC restates its commitment to protecting democracy, upholding the rule of law, and delivering good governance under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
