Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has announced plans to relocate to Kano State to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the Yoruba Political Mobilisation and Empowerment Programme in Kano, Bello stated he is prepared to spend two weeks coordinating grassroots political structures.
He challenged Yoruba and other non-indigenous communities to expand their political strength, targeting at least two million votes for the ruling party.
“After eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North, President Tinubu has not even completed his first four-year term. Must he complete his eight years before power returns to the North?” Bello asked.
He urged Northerners to back the President’s re-election for political stability. Bello defended the current administration’s performance, making reference to the ongoing construction of the Kano-Abuja Federal Highway as evidence of focused regional infrastructure.
The event’s convener, Honourable Leke Abejide of the Yagba Federal Constituency, disclosed that N500 million has been set aside as interest-free loans for women in cooperative societies. According to Abejide, the beneficiaries include Yoruba women from eight states, alongside Igala and Ebira communities residing in Kano.
Meanwhile, Kano State Governor has restates his commitment to protecting the rights of non-indigenous communities. According to the Governor, the state government has already appointed special advisers representing Yoruba, Igbo, and northern minority groups to ensure active participation in governance.
