Suspected hoodlums have attacked supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, leaving several people injured and a campaign vehicle burnt.

The ambush occurred on Saturday in Yankara town, Faskari Local Government Area, as the supporters were heading to a campaign rally for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

According to an eyewitness account which is subjected to verification, two APC members sustained fatal injuries as angry youths blocked the convoy’s route.

The Katsina State Police Command had not independently verified the casualties or commented on the incident as of Saturday night.

Alhaji Nura Sule Yandaki, the Caucus Chairman of the Musa Adamu Network, stated that he and 11 team members were travelling to the rally when the violence erupted.

According to Yandaki, the incident escalated during an Islamic Maulud procession, as suspected hoodlums took advantage of the situation to attack moving vehicles.

The attackers subsequently set ablaze a vehicle belonging to the Musa Adamu Network.

Reacting to the incident, the Secretary of the network, Shamsuddeen Sani Lema, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

Lema described the violence as unacceptable, warning against conducting political activities in an atmosphere of intimidation.

Despite the attack, Governor Radda proceeded with the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Rally in Faskari. Addressing the crowd, the governor outlined the achievements of his administration and announced the official opening of the Faskari General Hospital.

“During our previous campaign visit, we promised not to forget the hospital in Faskari. Today, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have fulfilled that promise by opening the hospital for our people,” Radda stated.

He also made mention of investments in road construction, school renovations, and security, stating that the state government’s interventions are restoring peace and creating an enabling environment for economic activities.

The Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, commended the large turnout and urged party members to foster grassroots mobilisation ahead of the general elections.

Additionally, Katsina State APC Chairman, Bishir Saulawa, assured supporters that the party would maintain a peaceful, issue-based campaign devoid of insults or divisive politics.
