The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially uploaded the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections to its online portal.
The decision addresses concerns raised by Nigerians regarding the accessibility of the voter database.
The digital register is now active and accessible via the commission’s dedicated portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
This online publication will complement the physical display exercise previously conducted at registration areas nationwide between October 9 and 15, carried out in compliance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
Confirming the development, the Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, stated that the new system was engineered to promote transparency and accountability.
“Accordingly, and in furtherance of its commitment to transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process, the Commission has decided to make available on its online platform the same Preliminary Register of Voters earlier displayed at the Registration Areas.”
The digital platform enables registered voters to verify their personal details and submit statutory claims and objections directly to the commission.
Haruna stated that the INEC is committed to delivering credible elections, stressing that the commission’s technical teams are actively processing all claims arising from both the physical and online verification exercises.
“The Commission continues to process claims and objections arising from the exercise in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026, preparatory to the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on 15th December 2026″.
