Four persons, including two children, were killed in a fatal road accident in Gombe State on Tuesday involving a commercial tricycle and a water tanker.
The accident occurred behind the All Progressives Congress square at the Kanani Academy junction within the metropolis. According to eyewitnesses, the commercial tricycle, widely known as Keke Napep, rammed into the rear of the water tanker.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe State, Samson Kaura, disclosed that eight individuals were involved in the accident, comprising two adult males, two male children, and four female children.
The Sector Commander confirmed that the four deceased individuals lost their lives at the scene, while the survivors, including the two uninjured adult males, were rushed to medical facilities.
“Though we were not the ones who carried out the rescue because the report came to us late, my men were there and visited the Specialist Hospital where the victims were taken for treatment.”
The crash involved schoolchildren from Government Day Secondary School Ahmadu Gombe, Government Day Junior Secondary School Jekadafari, and Jekadafari Primary School.
The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at the Federal Teaching Hospital and the Gombe Specialist Hospital. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision.
