Wike Faults Obi’s Leadership Capacity, Tags Him President Of Social Media
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, is only fit to govern on social media.
Wike made this statement on Saturday during a stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he assessed Obi’s ability to lead the country.
The former Rivers State governor accused the former Labour Party flagbearer of consistently abandoning political platforms during internal crises.
“I give him president of social media. If it’s to vote president of social media, I’ll vote for him. But not to govern Nigeria,” Wike said.
The minister, in his statement, stated that effective leadership requires problem-solving skills, explaining his own decision to stay and resolve issues within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when the party faced internal challenges.
“You ran under Labour Party, problem came, you ran. You ran from PDP, from Labour, you go to ADC, anywhere problem is, you run. How will you solve the problems of the country?”, Wike.
Wike also challenged Obi’s track record as governor of Anambra State. He argued that the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has demonstrated tangible performance, which he claimed Obi could not match.
The minister also criticised ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing him as unreliable.
“I was in the same party with Atiku, I know him. He’s a man you can’t take his words to the bank. He tells you something in the morning, it’s a different thing in the afternoon, it’s a different thing in the evening,” Wike asserted.
He also faulted the ADC’s selection of Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate, stating that the pairing had ruined the party’s electoral chances.
