The African Action Congress (AAC) has officially requested permission from President Bola Tinubu to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a formal letter dated October 21, the opposition party, whose presidential candidate is political activist Omoyele Sowore, scheduled the inauguration for November 11. The party boldly demanded that the Presidency provide food, drinks, and complete logistical support for the political gathering.

The AAC argued that granting the venue and state hospitality would reflect true multiparty democracy and equal access to public infrastructure.

“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the statement signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhai Ikpeminioghena.

The opposition party contended that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) regularly enjoys similar state-funded privileges for its partisan engagements.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” Ikpeminioghena stated.

The AAC, emphasised that the seat of power is a public asset, adding that approving the request would prove the commitment of the current administration to fairness and non-partisan public service.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency is yet to issue an official response regarding the demands.
