Nigerian shot at Toronto bus terminal

A 46-year-old Nigerian man, Osemwengie Irorere, was shot and killed inside a transit bus at Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal in Toronto, Canada.

The shooting took place around 7:00 p.m. at a transportation hub near Yorkdale Road and Allen Road. According to the Toronto Police Service, both the victim and the suspect had boarded a GO Transit bus shortly before the shooting occurred. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by officers a short distance away, recovering a firearm from the suspect.

Officers arrived at the scene and located the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene – Toronto Police Service

‎Metrolinx, the agency operating the GO bus service, confirmed that other passengers and staff were safely evacuated from the vehicle.

‎The suspect, identified as Tyrel Gibson,(40) of Toronto, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Toronto police confirmed this incident as the first recorded homicide of the year.
