The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially scheduled its presidential campaign flag-off for October 24, 2026, in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, AbdulAziz Yari, disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House correspondents. The former Zamfara State Governor spoke shortly after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Yari confirmed that President Tinubu has approved the proposed nationwide campaign schedule, which includes extensive state visits. He states that the campaign council will hold its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, October 14, to finalize strategic plans.
“The inaugural meeting is going to be done on the 14th of this month; that’s next Wednesday, at the State House Banquet Hall, and by God’s grace, on the 24th of October, we’re going to do our flag-off campaign in Kaduna,” Yari said.
The APC chieftain added that the campaign train will subsequently move to Maiduguri in Borno State and Port Harcourt in Rivers State. He assured Nigerians that the party is fully prepared to hit the ground running and mobilize voters across the geopolitical zones.
Yari dismissed the political weight of opposition candidates, including Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). He explained that securing the presidency requires substantial electoral backing from both sides of the country.
“Even if you have control of 80 per cent of the south, if you don’t have anything in the north, you cannot make it. If you have 80 per cent of control of the north, if you don’t have any state in the south, you cannot make it, and that’s what it is.”
