A late-night fire has decimated a family in Mangu town, Plateau State, killing six siblings aged between four months and 12 years. The fire, which broke out at exactly 2:00 AM on Friday, trapped the children inside their home.

Their mother is currently fighting for her life after sustaining severe burns during a desperate, unsuccessful attempt to rescue them. She is currently receiving intensive treatment at Allah Nakowa Hospital in Mangu for critical burn injuries.

The mother tried all she could to save her children, but she couldn’t. During the fire outbreak, we saw love from both Muslims and Christians who trooped out in their numbers to help – Umar Babangida Aliyu, Uncle of the victims

‎Dawn Herald gathered that the father, a local vulcanizer, was not harmed but is still in shock about the reality of the event and has been in deep mourning as we speak.

‎Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the scene on Friday, offering condolences and promising funds to rebuild the destroyed home of the victim.
