Police officer kills self over alleged arms supply to terrorists in Niger State

A police officer in Minna, Niger State, has reportedly taken his own life after being implicated in a scheme to supply weapons and ammunition to terrorists operating within the state.

‎The suspect, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Isah Abdullahi, the officer in charge of the armoury at the 12 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Minna, during a routine arms audit intended to identify missing inventory, seized a pistol within the office and shot himself in the head. He died instantly.

‎The Niger State Police Command has arrested the officers who were supervising the audit for negligence, due to their failure to prevent the suspect from accessing a weapon.

‎SP Wasiu Abiodun, PPRO Niger State, confirmed the incident that led to the death of the officer;

‎The said officer shot himself… through a pistol he picked within the office… the policemen detailed along for the audit and investigation activities were arrested for negligence – SP Wasiu Abiodun, PPRO Niger State

‎DSP Abdullahi was initially taken into custody on December 15, 2025, after allegations regarding illegal arms dealing.
‎He was allegedly accused of using his position as an armorer to funnel rifles and ammunition to terrorists, alongside a colleague as a middleman for the deliveries.
