A police officer in Minna, Niger State, has reportedly taken his own life after being implicated in a scheme to supply weapons and ammunition to terrorists operating within the state.
The suspect, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Isah Abdullahi, the officer in charge of the armoury at the 12 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Minna, during a routine arms audit intended to identify missing inventory, seized a pistol within the office and shot himself in the head. He died instantly.
The Niger State Police Command has arrested the officers who were supervising the audit for negligence, due to their failure to prevent the suspect from accessing a weapon.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, PPRO Niger State, confirmed the incident that led to the death of the officer;

DSP Abdullahi was initially taken into custody on December 15, 2025, after allegations regarding illegal arms dealing.
He was allegedly accused of using his position as an armorer to funnel rifles and ammunition to terrorists, alongside a colleague as a middleman for the deliveries.
