The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 10 people, including women and children, who were kidnapped and held in a forest near Rijana community in Kagarko Local Government Area. The rescue took place after weeks of joint operations by security agents.

‎The victims had been abducted in May 2025 by about 14 armed men who invaded Kushe Makaranta village in Kagarko. Following the kidnapping, the police, military, and Department of State Services launched an intense manhunt focused on their forest hideout around the Rijana community.

‎The operation pressured the kidnappers into abandoning the hostages, who were then recovered safely. The rescued include Helen Abraham, 25; Rosemary Elisha, 25; Jummai Istifanus, 23; Hauwa’u Sule, 13; Mary Sunday, 12; and young children Kelvin Abraham, 3; Devine Elisha, 1; Jeremiah Istifanus, 1; Christabeth Abraham, nine months; and Hauwa Sulaiman, 13.

‎Upon rescue, the victims were taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment. After two days under observation, they were successfully reunited with their families.

‎The Kaduna Police Command has urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
