The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately dismiss Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Uche Nnaji following accusations of certificate forgery. The party condemned the government’s silence as tolerance for corruption.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja by ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party criticized the Tinubu administration for allowing Minister Nnaji to remain in office despite evidence showing the certificates he presented were not issued by the claimed institutions.

The ADC stressed on the official disownment of Mr. Nnaji’s certificates by both the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Court records also indicate Mr. Nnaji admitted that the UNN never issued him a degree certificate. The party described the situation as “a great disservice to the country”, pointing out that Nigeria boasts many competent and honest citizens who are deserving of such important government roles.

ADC accused the ruling APC government of a pattern of certificate scandals among top officials, which is a troubling trend that reflects disregard for ethics.

ADC warns that failure to act undermines Nigeria’s fight against fraudulent conduct at the highest levels. The fate of Minister Nnaji now rests on the Tinubu administration’s response and any ensuing investigations.
