Former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje has ridiculed the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, amid talks about possibly joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Thursday, Ganduje, who recently stepped down as APC chairman, convened a rare gathering with party officials in Kano, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril and several local government leaders.
Speaking to reporters, Ganduje expressed disbelief at the suggestion that Kwankwaso would rejoin a party he had previously criticised harshly.
I am genuinely surprised by the rumours of Kwankwaso re-entering APC after calling it mad. They have now gone back and accepted it, despite accusing President Tinubu of mismanaging the country and merely focusing on Lagos…if those critics have now embraced the party, should we oppose their decision? Let’s regard them as APC members who are coming back despite past objections
Ganduje recalled Kwankwaso and his allies once labelled APC membership as something only ‘a madman’ would consider.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso has officially denied claims that he submitted any formal requests to join APC or any other political organisation. In a statement released Friday, he described the rumours circulating online as falsehoods and urged the public to rely on verified sources for updates.
