Early Friday morning, armed bandits launched a violent attack on a mosque in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing at least five worshippers during prayers.

The brutal raid sent shock and fear through the local community. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers stormed the mosque and opened fire without warning, killing five people instantly and injuring several others. Some victims are currently receiving medical care and are said to be recovering.

A local resident, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, disclosed that the assailants also abducted an unknown number of worshippers before escaping into the nearby forest. The individual described the attack as “barbaric and inhuman”.

DSP Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, said he had not yet received updates from the officers managing the scene.

This incident occurred less than a week after a similar horror in Gidan Turbe village, also within Tsafe LGA, where approximately 40 worshippers were reportedly kidnapped during early prayers.
