The Niger State Police Command has apprehended four individuals linked to the theft and illegal possession of fish valued at around N750,000 from a farm in the Lapai-Gwari area of Chanchaga Local Government.

According to a statement from the state’s police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, two men, Hussaini Garba and Umar Danfulani, both residents of Lapai-Gwari, collaborated to unlawfully enter a local fishery on multiple occasions, making off with a catch worth about N750,000 in total.

Following Garba’s arrest, he admitted involvement and identified three others, Ahmed Yusuf from Lapai-Gwari, Ibrahim Musa of Tungan-Goro, and Abdulazeez Bawa of City-Gate, who had received the stolen fish. Authorities later arrested all the named suspects and filed charges against them for theft and possession of stolen goods.

Earlier this month, robbers targeted a hotel in Madalla, Suleja, injuring three persons and stealing valuables such as a Toyota Corolla. Similarly, in Minna, four assailants pursued a bank customer, dispossessing them of cash.

SP Abiodun confirmed the investigations and the pursuit of suspects in these robberies, reinforcing the police command’s top most goal to protecting communities and prosecuting offenders.

The safety of our citizens remains paramount. We remain dedicated to our mission of reducing crime in Niger State by apprehending criminals promptly and ensuring they face the full weight of the law – SP Wasiu Abiodun

The recent arrests underpin the police’s top most goal to combat theft and violent crime in the region. Authorities hope to restore security and confidence among residents, encouraging continued vigilance and community cooperation.
