Gunmen kidnapped Nigeria Immigration Service officer Mr. Simon Agbo in Benue, demanding N20 million ransom as police intensify rescue efforts.

Gunmen abducted Mr. Simon Agbo, a Nigeria Immigration Service officer, from his residence in Bwari, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The assailants, arriving on motorcycles around 8 pm, fired shots to scare residents before taking Agbo to an unknown location.

The kidnappers contacted Agbo’s family on Sunday, demanding N20 million for his release on Monday. A family source, speaking anonymously, confirmed the ransom demand, noting the community’s growing fear due to recurring abductions in the area.

Benue State Police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident and said a rescue operation is underway. The police are combing nearby areas to secure Agbo’s release and apprehend the culprits.

The kidnapping has heightened concerns in Ado, with residents urging stronger security measures to curb the rising wave of abductions in Benue State.
