A 58-year-old man, Gbenga Adejuwon, was arraigned on Monday, December 29, 2025, before Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan, Oyo State. He is accused of scaling the perimeter fence of the court premises during the early hours of Christmas Eve with the intent to commit a crime.
The defendant allegedly invaded the temple of justice at approximately 2:00 AM on December 24, carrying an iron pillar, before being spotted by on-site security.
According to the police prosecution, the situation turned violent when a security guard attempted to intercept the intruder. Sergeant Akeem Akinloye told the court that Adejuwon was caught red-handed after scaling the fence.
When the security guard, Victor, moved to apprehend him, the defendant allegedly bit the guard’s left hand to evade arrest.
The defendant faces charges under Sections 355 and 508 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State (2000), covering assault and intent to commit a felony.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi reviewed the evidence before granting the defendant administrative bail.
The Ministry of Justice has recently called for upgraded lighting and CCTV across magistrate courts following similar “wee hour” trespass reports.
