President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Reno Omokri, a former critic of his administration who transitioned into a supporter, for an ambassadorial position.

Omokri, who served as a Special Assistant on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was confirmed as a nominee in a list of 32 ambassadorial designates sent to the Senate for confirmation on Sunday.

Omokri was previously one of the President’s most vocal social media critics, who previously raised questions about his academic background and character.

‎Mr. Omokri publicly stated that his decision to switch from being a critic to a supporter was based on personal investigation. He claims a visit to Chicago State University in September 2022 provided him with inconsiderable evidence that the President attended and graduated, making him change completely.

Omokri joins a list of politically prominent nominees, including former INEC Chairman Mahmud Yakubu, former Aviation Minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, and former governors Victor Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
