Kebbi State Police have successfully repelled two separate bandit operations, resulting in the death of one bandit and the rescue of four kidnapped victims.

In Maiyama Local Government Area, a police team and local vigilantes tracked and confronted eight bandits who had abducted two people, leading to the death of one suspected kidnapper and the recovery of a weapon.

A separate incident in the Shanga Local Government Area saw a combined team of police, army, and vigilantes engage another group of bandits in a gun duel, forcing the criminals to abandon their two victims and flee with injuries.

The operations took place in Kebbi State, which, like other states in the northwest region, has been severely affected by the banditry crisis. These criminal groups frequently launch raids on rural communities, resulting in kidnappings for ransom.

The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, released a statement confirming the success of the operations;

One of the suspected kidnappers was killed, his dane gun and one empty shell of cartridge were recovered while  in the second incident, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with fatal gunshot injuries

‎The Four victims, Muhafi Sani and Shamsiya Aliyu from Maiyama, and Suleiman and Yunwa Suleiman from Shanga, were successfully rescued and subsequently reunited with their families after medical checks.
