Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, announced that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan plans to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) banner, aiming to reclaim the presidency from Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the PDP Congress held over the weekend in Minna, Niger State, Gana stressed the growing desire for Jonathan’s return after witnessing two different leaders since his defeat in 2015.
Jonathan lost to Muhammadu Buhari, the APC candidate, which marked the end of PDP’s 16-year of political dominance. Since then, the party has struggled with internal challenges and efforts to regain power.
Gana recalled Jonathan’s 2015 statement that his ambition was not worth Nigerian lives, emphasizing how the country has since experienced different administrations. He stated that Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear, and that the popular demand for Jonathan’s comeback is on a high.
