President Bola Tinubu has urged his supporters in Rivers State to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a primary weapon to fight poverty and ensure the progressive development of the Nigerian economy.
Speaking on Saturday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally, which was convened ahead of the 2027 general elections, Tinubu directed eligible voters who had yet to collect their PVCs to do so immediately.
“It is left for you to use the weapon you have, and that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please, I beg you, I take God beg. The weapon you have against poverty is to elect progressive development of our economy. That is what I am pursuing”, Tinubu.
Addressing Nigerian youths, the President explained that the outcome of the 2027 elections would have an impact on their future. The President charged Nigerian youths to take the 2027 electoral exercise seriously, stating that their future depends on it.
“To the youths of Nigeria, I am looking at you. This election is about you, it’s not on me. Your future depends on this election. This progress has no reverse gear”, the President said.
The Rivers campaign follows Tinubu’s recent attendance at an APC rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno pledged two million votes for the President in the upcoming polls. At the Uyo gathering, Tinubu also approved the establishment of the Ibom Deep Sea Port to drive regional development.
The Port Harcourt rally attracted APC leaders and supporters from across the South-South geopolitical zone. Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio were all in attendance to canvass support for the party.
