The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four suspected ritualists found in possession of human skulls and hands allegedly intended for money rituals.
The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, briefed journalists on the development on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Ilorin.
The police apprehended Abu Jimoh and Ayo Jimoh during an operation at a cemetery in Omupo. The suspects were caught digging up graves to harvest human heads, a crime that came to the community’s notice in May 2026 when residents discovered desecrated burial sites.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and named a herbalist, Mukaila Bello, as the primary buyer of the exhumed human heads.
In a separate operation along Bakase Road in Alapa, police officers arrested Kamalden Lukmon and AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim with two suspected human hands. The suspects admitted they acquired the body parts for money rituals and indicted a local vigilante member, Abdulraf Apata, as their supplier.
The Commissioner assured that a manhunt is underway for all fleeing accomplices, with the current suspects detained at the Violent Crimes Response Unit. He confirmed that an intelligence operation led to the arrest of Abu and Ayo Jimoh at 5:00 a.m. on October 8, 2026, while they were digging graves, and maintained that they will be arraigned in court once the police identify the victims and conclude their probe.
