Niger State Governor Umaru Bago has sworn in six new commissioners to fill cabinet seats left vacant by former officials who resigned to run for public office.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna, with Chief Magistrate Murtala Ibrahim administering the oath of office and allegiance.

The new appointments follow the exit of six former cabinet members who stepped down to contest in upcoming elections.

Governor Bago admonished the appointees to put public interest above personal ambition and directed them to report to their respective ministries immediately.

“Bring your wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of your duties and ensure your ministries contribute meaningfully to the development agenda of this administration,” Governor Bago stated.

He also instructed permanent secretaries across the ministries to provide the new cabinet members with comprehensive hand-over reports and briefings.

The replacement of cabinet members according to the government, will help prevent administrative delays in key state projects ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
